Ryan Shannon Commits to Montana State

As seen over at Mslacat, Montana State recently got a commitment from F Ryan Shannon out of Washington. Shannon reportedly also had an offer from Portland State.

Shannon is about 6'8'' and is very skilled and versatile. From Mslacat:

As a sophomore Shannon averaged 13 points, 11 rebounds, 4 block shots and 3 assists a game as a 6-4 combo forward, and was named second team All WesCo player. Last year for Marysville-Pilchuck the 6-6 Shannon averaged 16 points, 11 rebounds, 4 blocks and 4 assists from the power forward and center spots (I understand they had a 6-11 guy on their roster). For his efforts he was named first team All WesCo. Incidentally he also earned First Team All WesCo in track (high jump).

How much he plays early will likely depend on how much he fills out. He is a late bloomer growing, which can be good and bad. On the positive side, he has developed a wide variety of skills. On the negative, he is thin and will need to add strength.

Looking at his stat line (4 blocks per game!), Shannon projects to be a solid performer in the Big Sky. If he continues to improve and bulk up a little bit, he could be a contributor the moment he steps foot on campus.
